Building a complex house like this in a virtual world using cadwork 3d modeling software allowed the builders and architects to sort out many technical problems before any material had to be ordered or the building process started. This led to huge cost and time savings.

Facts (continues) :
• 850 roof rafters, mostly individual length with compound cuts and profile endcuts
• 32 different roof planes
• 280 wall panels, mostly individual panels with non standard heights
• 90% of all parts for building envelope precut on CNC machines
• Cutting time for timber frame, panel components, all floors = 200hrs using Hundegger K2+ 5axis joinery machine

Summary:
Building a complex house like this in a virtual world using cadwork 3d modeling software allowed the builders and architects to sort out many technical problems before any material had to be ordered or the building process started. This led to huge cost and time savings.

CNC machine data could be exported directly from cadwork 3d and sent to various CNC machines. No shop drawings or time consuming layout and marking of timbers was necessary. All cutting files are optimized for material saving. This allowed the production of a house like that with very minimal waist (less than 5%).

Overall this process helped creating a better, more functional custom home, but it also saved a tremendous amount of time, labor and material. The owner was able to visualize and understand his home before it was build. He truly got his personal customized dream home.
